HOW TO HELP ACADIANA HUMANE SOCIETY:
1. Register to join our Dog Pack (by clicking here for the webpage!). Just be sure to choose “Join a Dog Pack (existing team)” and then be sure to select “Acadiana Humane Society” from the drop down menu. There are different participant options – they’re all listed on the registration page and you can choose which best suits you. If you register as an actual walker BY July 9th you can help us win $1,000.00 if our rescue has the most people registered by this date among those attending the Lafayette Strut Your Mutt! This is exactly what we need to pay off our 2011 vet bills, so it would be awesome if your $30.00 donation to register could help us win this additional money for paying off our vet bill! Thank you!
2. Choose your own personal fundraising goal. This can be any amount that you feel comfortable with, but we’d love to encourage you to aim high! You can fundraise by asking friends, family, & colleagues to donate to your participation in the walk!
3. Choose your “Role”. Select Virtual Fundraiser — Registration Fee: $ 10.00 (if you can’t be here to join us). Or, if you plan to walk with us, then choose Walker – Adult — Registration Fee: $ 30.00 (if 13 or older). There are also two options for those under 12 who will be walking with an adult: Under 12, no shirt (free) or Walker – 12 & Under w/ T-Shirt — Registration Fee: $ 20.00. Please note: While any choice raises money for us, only the $30 walker choice counts towards the $1000 contest.
4. You’ll get your own personal fundraising webpage! You can personalize the page and then send it to friends and family, asking them to either join our Dog Pack or donate to our team! There are great resources for recruiting donors available on the Strut Your Mutt website!
If you’d like to support us but can’t make it on the day, you can be either be a ‘virtual’ fundraiser for our dog pack, or you can donate directly to one of our Dog Pack members.
We really hope to see you on September 22nd! Thank you for your support!

Acadiana Humane Society pet adoptions have been slow, and donations have been down. Due to this, we have been unable to pay off our 2011 vet bills. Meanwhile, our 2012 vet bills are growing, and the need to help more animals continues. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue taking in any more cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, or any other animals until we can at least pay off our 2011 vet bills and start paying down on our 2012 vet bills. This means we are currently on a total intake freeze until until we can raise the funds to continue doing the important work that we do. We have started a ChipIn to raise $2,000.00 to pay off the remainder of our 2011 vet bills. Until this ChipIn is full, we can not take on any more animals at this time. http://acadianahumane.chipin.com/ahs-2011-vet-bills
You can also donate via the PayPal link on the side of this webpage, or log into PayPal then send a donation to info@acadianahumane.org , or mail a check or money order to Acadiana Humane Society; P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, Louisiana 70584-0536, or stop by the Acadiana Humane Society adoption table at the Lafayette Petco on Saturdays between Noon and 4PM to donate.
We also have other urgent needs to help us take care of the rescue animals already in our shelter and foster homes. We are almost out of dry cat food and clumping cat litter. We do not have the funds to purchase cat food and litter at this time. If anyone local can please donate either Purina One Chicken & Rice dry cat food, or Purina Naturals dry cat food, or any brand of clumping cat litter we would really appreciate it! Please be aware that we only have one drop off location now. All cat food and litter donations need to be dropped off in the donation bins in the lobby at the Bridge Storage located at 2510 Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette. If you would like a donation receipt, please leave your name, mailing address, and list of items donated with Miss. Linda or Miss. Miranda and they will get the information to us when we pick up your donations. This is the ONLY official drop off location for donations. If you need to drop off at another location, please contact us at ahspets@gmail.com or 337-668-4484, to make arrangements to meet one of our volunteers to ensure that your donation goes where it is intended. Thank you!
Please note: Thanks to Purina’s Rally to Rescue we are still using the pallet of dry dog food that they donated! We do not need dog food at this time. We only need cat food and cat litter. Small animal food and supplies are also welcomed.

We will be at the Lafayette Petco on Saturdays from Noon to 4PM for our Acadiana Humane Society Adoption Events! Meet some of our adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and other small animals. We don’t have enough volunteers to bring every pet, so if there is a particular pet you would like to meet and you know you are coming to one of our events, then please be sure to email us and let us know who you are interested in. To view a current list of adoptable pets, please go to http://acadianahumane.org/adopt.html as this has our adoption requirements, fees, and a link to our available pets on Petfinder. If you would like to adopt one of our dogs, cats, or other pets, please download our new 2012 Acadiana Humane Society PreScreening Application here and then fax or email in your completed application to be considered to adopt one of our pets. Thank you! Some of our newer rescues may not yet be on Petfinder, but you can find them first on our Facebook page’s available pet photo albulms.
