Meet Monty the puppy, along with other dogs, cats, kittens, rabbits, and a ferret at our adoption events this weekend! Monty will be at Petco on Saturday from Noon to 4PM, and and Petsmart on Sunday from 10AM to 3PM.

We also have other urgent needs to help us take care of the rescue animals already in our shelter and foster homes. We are almost out of dry cat food and clumping cat litter. We do not have the funds to purchase cat food and litter at this time. If anyone local can please donate either Purina One Chicken & Rice dry cat food, or Purina Naturals dry cat food, or any brand of clumping cat litter we would really appreciate it! Please be aware that we only have one drop off location now. All cat food and litter donations need to be dropped off  in the donation bins in the lobby at the Bridge Storage located at 2510 Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette. If you would like a donation receipt, please leave your name, mailing address, and list of items donated with Miss. Linda or Miss. Miranda and they will get the information to us when we pick up your donations. This is the ONLY official drop off location for donations. If you need to drop off at another location, please contact us at ahspets@gmail.com or 337-668-4484, to make arrangements to meet one of our volunteers to ensure that your donation goes where it is intended. Thank you!

Please note: Thanks to Purina’s Rally to Rescue we are still using the pallet of dry dog food that they donated! We do not need dog food at this time. We only need cat food and cat litter. Small animal food and supplies are also welcomed.

We will be at the Lafayette Petco on Saturdays from Noon to 4PM for our Acadiana Humane Society Adoption Events! Meet some of our adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and other small animals. We don’t have enough volunteers to bring every pet, so if there is a particular pet you would like to meet and you know you are coming to one of our events, then please be sure to email us and let us know who you are interested in.  To view a current list of adoptable pets, please go to http://acadianahumane.org/adopt.html as this has our adoption requirements, fees, and a link to our available pets on Petfinder. We will have 2012 McCarney Dog Calenders available for only a $5.00 donation! This popular calender retails for $12.95! 100% of your donation for the calendar will go to pay on our animal rescues vet bills. If you would like one of these calenders, but can’t make it to our adoption event, we can mail you one for a $5.00 donation plus shipping costs. Contact us via email, phone, or fax with your shipping zip code so we can calculate cost to ship before you send donation via Paypal. Thank you!

We’ll also have a raffle for a Dog Gift Basket with toys, treats, shampoo, and a certificate for a six week dog training class at the Lafayette Petco! It is a $1.00 donation for one chance, or six chances for a $5.00 donation. The drawing will be held at the end of the event on Saturday, Feb. 25th.

You can meet several of our adoptable dogs there! The foster dogs who plan to attend are Sneauxflake the Poodle mix, Kuzco the Beagle mix, Puff the Chihuahua, Rufus the Shih Tzu, and Tilly the Chihuahua mix puppy!

We’ll even have free coloring books, Valentine’s candy, puppy and kitten stickers, and puppy and kitten temporary tattoos for the kids, while supplies last!

Bon Repas Wrap Truck will also be there serving it up Louisiana Fresh!

Other area animal rescues will also be in attendance with their own tents set up with their own adoptable dogs and fundraiser items and will include PAAW, ARF, AAVA, St. Martin Humane, and FLASh. Acadiana Humane Society is participating this year by collecting funds all during the month of February for the Acadiana Humane Society Spay/Neuter Fund. This fund is used to help low income people and families who qualify to get their cat, dog, or rabbit spayed or neutered at 50% off or free, depending on their income/need. PayPal donations for the Spay/Neuter Fund can be sent to spay@acadianahumane.org. Checks or money orders can be sent to Acadiana Humane Society; ATTN: Spay/Neuter Fund; P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, LA 70584-0536.

If you are in the Acadiana area and can not afford to spay or neuter your cat or dog, please contact us at spay@acadianahumane.org to request an application for our Spay/Neuter program. If you qualify and we have funds available then we will be able to help. If no funds are available, then we will let you know about other programs in the area that you may be able to get assistance from. This program is available all year as long as there is funding available. Thank you!

A special shout out and thank you to Todd Haberkorn and Team Haberkorn for their support of our animal rescue! Todd teamed up with other voice actors to create a 2012 “The Fur Behind the Mic” Calendar to raise money for Acadiana Humane Society! The VAs and Team Haberkorn core members worked together to pull it off and the SOLD OUT on preorder! Todd has already sent us the proceeds from the sale via PayPal! Thank you Todd and Team Haberkorn! We couldn’t do what we do without supporters like you! There is a news article about it on Anime News Network. Todd and Team Haberkorn continue to support Acadiana Humane Society every time a new member joins and every time they purchase items from the Haberdashery. We are participating in Chase Community Giving’s contest and with your help we can win a portion of the $3 million dollars they want to donate to charity! If Acadiana Humane Society in Sunset, LA wins, we can use the money to pay off our vet bills, purchase much needed cat food, and finish the construction of the interior of our hurricane safe animal shelter. All of this would go a long way to helping our no-kill animal rescue thrive and be able to do more for homeless cats, dogs, and other pets. Please vote soon, as the contest ends on November 22nd! Acadiana Humane Society is in urgent need of cat food! We currently have over 100 cats in foster care that need to be fed. As well as many AHS Pet Food Bank recipients who are asking for cat food to be able to keep their pets. We are almost out of cat food! We have plenty of donated dog food, but people rarely donate cat food. We will take ANY brand of dry and canned cat food, as we can use it for our Pet Food Bank to help low income families keep their pets! We do have our cats on specific diets of Purina One Chicken and Rice dry cat food, Purina Naturals, Purina Cat Chow, and Purina Kitten Chow. But, we have no funds to purchase any cat food! Donations to help us be able to purchase cat food can also be sent through PayPal to info@acadianahumane.org . For donations designated for our vet bills, we are giving away chances in our raffle. One chance is a $1.00 donation, or you can get six chances for every $5.00 donation. We will have raffle tickets available at our adoption events. The raffle drawing will be held on December 17th at 4PM at the Lafayette Petco.
