Acadiana Humane Society will be at Camp Bow Wow’s second annual Cupids & K-9s Adopt-A-Thon Event on Saturday, February 25th from 11AM to 3PM! We will have our white and purple Rally to Rescue tent set up with some of our adoptable dogs on one end, and our Bake Sale fundraiser on the other end! We will have a variety of baked from scratch cookies, cupcakes, individual cherry pies, and individual cheesecakes for human consumption. We’ll also have a variety of dog treats available for your K9 companions. All money raised at the Acadiana Humane Society Bake Sale will go to help pay on our animal rescues vet bills.

We’ll also have a raffle for a Dog Gift Basket with toys, treats, shampoo, and a certificate for a six week dog training class at the Lafayette Petco! It is a $1.00 donation for one chance, or six chances for a $5.00 donation. The drawing will be held at the end of the event on Saturday, Feb. 25th.

In addition to our Bake Sale and Raffle, we will also have 2012 McCarney Dog Calenders available for only a $5.00 donation! This popular calender retails for $12.95! 100% of your donation for the calendar will go to pay on our animal rescues vet bills.

You can meet several of our adoptable dogs there! The foster dogs who plan to attend are Sneauxflake the Poodle mix, Kuzco the Beagle mix, Puff the Chihuahua, Rufus the Shih Tzu, and Tilly the Chihuahua mix puppy!

We’ll even have free coloring books, Valentine’s candy, puppy and kitten stickers, and puppy and kitten temporary tattoos for the kids, while supplies last!

Bon Repas Wrap Truck will also be there serving it up Louisiana Fresh!

Other area animal rescues will also be in attendance with their own tents set up with their own adoptable dogs and fundraiser items and will include PAAW, ARF, AAVA, St. Martin Humane, and FLASh. For more information on the event, you can check out Camp Bow Wow’s Event page on Facebook. Camp Bow Wow is located at 114 Eunice Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70508. Their phone number is 337-237-3647.

World Spay Day is an annual campaign that shines a spotlight on spay/neuter. Spaying & neutering pets is a proven way to save the lives of companion animals, feral cats, and street dogs who might otherwise be put down in a shelter or killed on the street. Learn more about World Spay Day here: http://www.worldspayday.org/

Acadiana Humane Society is participating this year by collecting funds all during the month of February for the Acadiana Humane Society Spay/Neuter Fund. This fund is used to help low income people and families who qualify to get their cat, dog, or rabbit spayed or neutered at 50% off or free, depending on their income/need. PayPal donations for the Spay/Neuter Fund can be sent to spay@acadianahumane.org. Checks or money orders can be sent to Acadiana Humane Society; ATTN: Spay/Neuter Fund; P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, LA 70584-0536.

If you are in the Acadiana area and can not afford to spay or neuter your cat or dog, please contact us at spay@acadianahumane.org to request an application for our Spay/Neuter program. If you qualify and we have funds available then we will be able to help. If no funds are available, then we will let you know about other programs in the area that you may be able to get assistance from. This program is available all year as long as there is funding available. Thank you!

Acadiana Humane Society needs your help! We are an all volunteer no-kill non-profit animal rescue. Most of our rescue animals are housed in foster homes. Several animals are temporarily housed in cages in our unfinished hurricane safe animal shelter until foster space or adoptive homes can be found. These cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, and other animals in our care require proper food, supplies, and vet care. Due to limited resources, and the reduction in the amount of donations ever since the oil spill and other economic hardships in our area, we are in dire need of financial assistance to meet the daily needs of these animals, and to pay off our overwhelming vet bills. We have set up a ChipIn that will cover our end of the year expenses including paying off our current outstanding vet bills. If you click to pay through the ChipIn it will send your donation to us through PayPal, and register the amount of your donation so others know how much more we need to raise to meet our goal. Please help if you can! Thank you!

If you prefer to send a donation via check or money order, you may do so at one of our adoption events (see list below for dates, times, and locations) or by dropping it in the mail. Our mailing address is: Acadiana Humane Society; P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, LA 70584-0536. Thank you!

Another way you can help is by dropping off cat food in our donation boxes in the lobby of Bridge Storage at 2510 Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette. Please be sure to see Linda or Miranda in the office if you would like to leave your name and address for a donation receipt.

If you would like to donate to us in person, please either email our Director, Sue Rabeaux at suerabeaux@gmail.com or stop by one of our Petco adoption events and we can accept them at our adoption table. Please be sure that if you bring them to our adoption events at Petco, that you hand it to either Sue or an Acadiana Humane Society volunteer at our adoption table, to be sure that we get it. Thank you very much!

A special shout out and thank you to Todd Haberkorn and Team Haberkorn for their support of our animal rescue! Todd teamed up with other voice actors to create a 2012 “The Fur Behind the Mic” Calendar to raise money for Acadiana Humane Society! The VAs and Team Haberkorn core members worked together to pull it off and the SOLD OUT on preorder! Todd has already sent us the proceeds from the sale via PayPal! Thank you Todd and Team Haberkorn! We couldn’t do what we do without supporters like you! There is a news article about it on Anime News Network. Todd and Team Haberkorn continue to support Acadiana Humane Society every time a new member joins and every time they purchase items from the Haberdashery. If you are an Anime fan please consider supporting our animal rescue by joining Team Haberkorn! Membership does have it’s perks too! You can read more about those perks in this blog entry at Mic Costumes.

Also, if you have an Anime fan on your holiday shopping list, please consider purchasing them a gift from the Haberdashery or a gift of membership to Team Haberkorn! You’ll not only be giving to your loved one, but also giving to rescue animals through that purchase!
