Acadiana Humane Society needs your help! We are full, in debt to veterinarians, and in urgent need of pet food, cat litter, produce, flea & heart worm prevention, and pet supplies! We have no more room until our numbers are greatly reduced. We can’t make any new vet appointments at our vet with the lowest prices until that bill is paid down! This forces us to use more expensive vets when we have an emergency, and we are unable to provide basic veterinary needs until the money is raised! Barney the little 4 lbs dog has finally finished heart worm treatment and is available for adoption. However, we still owe a large amount of money on Barney’s vet bills and medical boarding fees! Please, any donation, no matter how big or how small helps! You can either donate via WePay on our YouCaring Fundraiser by clicking on the Donate Now button below, or we have a Paypal donation button here on our website. You can send us checks or money orders made out to Acadiana Humane Society, as well as gift cards to Petco, Tractor Supply, Ranch Outlet, Petsmart, Walmart, and Target, or any other local store that sells pet food & supplies. Our mailing address is P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, Louisiana 70584-0536. We can easily shop anywhere in Lafayette Parish, Breaux Bridge, and Opelousas areas using any gift cards you send. Donations have still been coming in much slower then they used to since the Louisiana flood last August. Many people are still rebuilding, or have flooded again recently, or have lost their jobs because of last year’s flood. One of our volunteers was laid off from her job last August after the flood, and has been unable to find another job. Louisiana is still hurting, the people are hurting, the animals are hurting, our rescue is hurting, and we need your help to continue to save the lives of animals in need around Acadiana.

Acadiana Humane Society is full! We have no more room until our numbers are greatly reduced. We also need to raise over $4,000.00 to pay off all of our current vet bills! Since we are no-kill this means we need adopters and sponsors to be able to continue doing what we do to save other animals. Our waiting list is also full at this time. We have several animals from various animal control agencies and owner surrenders that are already on our waiting list. As soon as a spot opens up, we will take in unwanted & in danger pets from our waiting list. We will of course also take in any returned pet that was adopted from us, as we try to reserve a spot for returns. We are out of cat litter and almost out of cat and kitten food! We are out of produce for the 17 rabbits and the livestock! If you can help, please consider adopting, fostering an animal already in our care, or donating to help us pay our vet bills and provide food and necessary supplies for our current rescued animals. Our application to adopt or foster is also on our website. Please email in your application for fastest response. Thank you. http://acadianahumane.org/catblogger/how-you-can-help

Acadiana Humane has too many cats, rabbits, & dogs! We need your help to feed them & get them vet care!
Acadiana Humane Society is currently overwhelmed with too many cats, kittens, & 19 rabbits! This is in addition to our dogs, ferrets, mini potbelly pigs, goat, ducks, & chickens. We are in urgent need of donations of money for vet bills, & pet food & supplies. We can also accept gift cards to purchase pet food, feed, hay, pet supplies, & fresh produce. If anyone would like to purchase & donate we need Purina Pro Plan cat food (chicken or turkey), Purina Kitten Chow, any cat litter, Carefresh Paper bedding, rabbit pellets, Zupreme Grain Free ferret food, Poultry feed, goat feed, Mazuri Mini Pig Youth Food, Timothy or Orchard Hay, and lots of fresh vegetables and fruits! (We still have a pallet of donated dog food. But no one donates for the other critters!) Email us ahspets@gmail.com with “donate” in the subject line so we can make arrangements to meet you to pick up donations. You can also text 337-371-5477 to let us know you have donations. Non perishable donations can be left at one of two drop off locations: Inside the lobby of Bridge Storage in Ambassador Caffery Pkwy in Lafayette, Or, in the donation bin at Petco on Settler’s Trace Blvd or Louisiana Ave in Lafayette. We have a Paypal donation button, and our mailing address, here on our website as well.
Because we are so full, we are not currently taking in any cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, or rabbits at this time. We have a waiting list if you would like to email us with photos and information to be added to the wait list. Send to ahspets@gmail.com and write waiting list in the subject line. If you adopted a cat, rabbit, or other small animal, we always make room for returns when we can. For dog returns, because our dog kennels are no longer any good, we may need to have you foster until we can find them a new home or another rescue to take them. Thank you!

Our current dog kennels need to be replaced ASAP!
Acadiana Humane Society is currently over capacity on dogs due to our old, damaged dog kennels. We are no longer taking in any dogs until our current dogs are adopted and the dog kennels are all replaced, as repairing is no longer good enough. They have been repaired too many times already.
We are currently seeking new volunteers willing to foster small animals, cats, and dogs that are already in our system. If we can get new foster homes, then it would help relieve some stress from our currently overworked volunteers. We also need adopters for many of our adoptable cats, dogs, rabbits, and other small animals. If you would like to foster, or adopt, the initial prescreening application process is the same. There is a spot on the application to put the name of the pet you want to adopt. If you are wanting to foster, just write “foster (insert type of animals)” on the line that says name of pet to adopt. Sending your completed application attached to an email is the fastest way to get the processing started. You can download the WORD document for our prescreening application from our website by clicking this link. We are also currently out of funding for our Spay/Neuter Fund to help low income families and indiviuals, as well as low on funding for everyday upkeep of our non-profit, no-kill animal rescue. We are dangerously low on cat litter (both clumping for the cats & clay for the kittens), and also very low on kitten food! We are a 100% volunteer rescue group, so your donation goes 100% to the care and feeding of the rescue animals of Acadiana Humane Society. We do have a Paypal donation button here on our website if you can’t foster or adopt, but would like to help us continue to save lives. We can accept cat, kitten, & rabbit food, cat litter, & other pet supplies in the donation bin at Petco South Lafayette, Petco North Lafayette or in the lobby of Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery Pkwy. When leaving donations at either Petco, please write AHS on them so the other rescues know that they are intended for us. If you prefer to donate pet food and supplies directly, you email or text us to make arrangements to meet with one of us. Or, watch our Facebook page for our events and bring your donations to us there. Thank you! http://acadianahumane.org/catblogger/how-you-can-help/
