Many thanks to all of our volunteers, fosters, adopters, veterinarians, adoption partners, community partners, supporters, and donors! Without your help, we could not have accomplished all that we did in 2014! With your support, in 2014 we have rescued and taken in 162 animals that were either picked up as strays, pulled from area animal control facilities, illegally abandoned at area business’ that called us to take them, owner surrenders, or returns. Because of your donations, all of these dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and guinea pigs received the necessary vet care before finding homes. In 2014 we found homes for 138 animals! We already had quite a few rescued animals in foster homes before 2014 began, which your support also helped us to provide for. We currently still have 153 animals in our care as we welcome the New Year tomorrow. Many of these animals are currently due for updated vaccinations and vet care, which we hope to take care of in January.

Your generous donations this year have helped Acadiana Humane Society to end 2014 not owing any money to our veterinarians, and all of our bills are paid! This is the first year that we have not closed out the end of the year without still having an open tab at one or more of our vets. We sincerely thank you for that!

If you would like to help us start 2015 with a bang, please consider donating your end of the year gift now. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible as we are a 501c3 non-profit organization. We have a PayPal button on the side of our website if you would like to donate now.

Acadiana Humane Society volunteers will be at Blue Magic on Main in New Iberia on Saturday, December 13th selling Three Geeks Studio jewelry & Pinky Purses to help raise money for the rescue animals. Our goal is to raise enough money to pay off all of our 2014 vet bills before the end of December. Be sure and look for and shop at our booth in Bouligny Plaza under the pavilion! There will be lots of fun activities for the whole family, including a parade! There is fun scheduled from Noon until 9pm. We will arrive before Noon, and will stay as long as we can. We hope to sell out of jewelry, purses, and any other crafts we bring! Everything we will have will make wonderful Christmas gifts for someone on your shopping list! Please come out and have a great time with us!

Please help! Acadiana Humane Society has an urgent need to place cats & dogs into wonderful adoptive homes or other no-kill rescues ASAP! Due to numerous illegally dumped animals we are currently over capacity & do not have the space or finances to properly care for them all. We have been working very hard to place them and to raise funds, but it is not working. Please, promote adoption! Please, if you are a no-kill rescue and can take even just one dog or cat, they are ALL spayed or neutered, had initial vaccinations, and are tested and on prevention. Many are also microchipped. If you would like to adopt a cat, dog, or rabbit, please download our prescreening application by clicking here. Then, save it on your computer, fill it out, and save it as a new file. Then attach the completed application to an email and send it to us at ahspets@gmail.com. We also currently have many spayed/neutered rabbits available for adoption.

If you can’t adopt, please do what you can to help us raise much needed funds to care for these rescued animals. There are many ways to help financially.

One way to help, is when you do your Holiday shopping at AmazonSmile, Amazon donates 0.5% of the purchase price to Acadiana Humane Society Please bookmark this link http://smile.amazon.com/ch/72-1468289 and support us every time you shop. The more people that support us this way, the bigger the check from AmazonSmiles.

Another easy way to help: If you normally go grocery shopping at Albertsons, then you can help Acadiana Humane Society by using one of our Albertson’s Community Partner key ring cards when you check out. We will have some available at our Petco South adoption event. Or, you can print your own using the image below. You can also save this photo on your smartphone and have them scan it at the register when you shop.

Another easy way, is to do some of your holiday shopping through Three Geeks Studio, which is run by three of our volunteers. A portion of the money raised from the sales of their handcrafted jewelry and gifts goes to help the animals of Acadiana Humane Society.

You can also like and watch our Acadiana Humane Society Fundraiser Facebook page for when we list items for sale to help raise money for our rescue. We will be listing some items over the Thanksgiving break. Many of these are brand new items that were donated for the purpose of raising money for the rescue. There will also be some collectible items, as well as some gently used items. Please read each items description to see if the item is new or not. Also, if you have any items you would like to donate for this purpose, please email us at ahspets@gmail.com with pictures and information.

You can also donate directly to us through Paypal using the Paypal button on the side of this webpage. Or, by mailing checks, money orders, and gift cards to stores that sell pet food & supplies to Acadiana Humane Society; P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, Louisiana 70584-0536. If you prefer to donate pet food, supplies, or other item directly to us, please email us at ahspets@gmail.com to arrange a pickup. Or, you can leave items in our donation box in the lobby of Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette. We can also accept donations via Amazon by sending them to ahspets@gmail.com. If you watch our website and Facebook page to know when we are at adoption or community events, you can also donate directly to us at our adoption table at those events. If donating in person at one of our adoption events, we do have a Square Reader account and can accept donations via credit/debit cards that way. Thank you!

On Friday, November 14th Acadiana Humane Society held a silent auction and Marc Gunn concert fundraiser. A big thank you to Marc Gunn, and also Regan Coussan with The Whiskey Bay Rovers, for donating their time and their musical talents! While attendance was minimal, only 15 people counting volunteers and musicians, we had a great time for a great cause. The music was fun, and some even sang along. Even though we were small, the generosity was great and we were still able to raise over $300.00 for the animal rescue! Those that shopped at our silent auction were able to save anywhere from 25% to 99% off of retail value because there wasn’t much competition in the bidding. Many thanks to those that donated items for the silent auction, as that is where most of our income came from. We still have many items left that did not get any bids, so we will be hosting an online auction via Facebook in early December. If anyone else wants to donate items for that fundraiser, please contact us at ahspets@gmail.com or 337-371-5477. Thank you!
