Pumpkin Patch Craft Show 2015kit_logo1

Please join Acadiana Humane Society at one of our favorite fundraiser events of the year! Bring the family to play at The Pumpkin Patch while you go shopping! It’s FREE to get in and check it out! It is Saturday, October 3rd from 10:00AM to 7:00PM, and Sunday, October 4th from 12:00Noon to 7:00PM. We have an event page set up on Facebook you can join and invite others.

Acadiana Humane Society volunteers will be under our white and purple Rally to Rescue tent selling handcrafted one of a kind jewelry by Three Geeks Studio, and hand sewn purses by Pinky. We will also have bake sale goods, as well as assorted crafts, dog costumes, pet toys and assorted supplies available for a donation to our rescue. Proceeds from this tent will go to help the rescue animals of Acadiana Humane Society. We will also be accepting donations of cat, dog, & rabbit food at our tent. As well as donations of cash, gift cards, checks or money orders made out to Acadiana Humane Society, and also credit or debit card donations.

Petco 50 Yrs

Are you looking to adopt!? This weekend is an excellent time to adopt! Acadiana Humane Society is participating in Petco’s 50th Anniversary event! We are looking to have six or more adoptions this weekend! Please check out some of our adoptable pets online on our website. All of our long term dog fosters have a reduced adoption fee of only $100! Cats are normally $100, but a few have reduced adoption fees of only $50! If you have adopted from us before, let us know as we offer a discount for returning adopters! Rabbits are $50, and guinea pigs are $20. We will have adoptions by appointment all weekend. We will also have an adoption event at Petco South (605 Settler’s Trace Blvd.) in Lafayette on Saturday from 11:00AM – 2:00PM.

*Note: Dates, times, and locations are subject to change. Please refresh this page or check our Facebook page, our Twitter page, or our Instagram page for the latest updates to our event schedules. Thank you!

*Also, please be aware that while our office may be closed during some days, we will reply to emails and process applications as we can. We are a foster based rescue, so there is no public facility to visit. Our animals can be viewed online on our Facebook page andour Petfinder page. If you are interested in meeting one or more of our pets, please download and fill out our prescreening application and submit it to us via email or fax. Email is actually faster as we are not always in the office to check the fax machine. Once an application is processed, we can make an appointment to meet, or we will arrange to bring the selected pet to our next adoption event. Our animal rescue is 100% volunteer and all of our volunteers have families and jobs outside of the rescue, so it may take a little time to hear back from us. While we try to respond to everything within one business day, we get hundreds of emails and messages daily, and sometimes it is just not possible to reply to every one right away. Email is usually the fastest way to get a response, since replies can be made late at night if need be. We believe it is important to allow our volunteers some free time to spend with their families. Thank you for understanding.

On Sunday, September 6, 2015 Todd Haberkorn held a fundraiser auction to raise money for Acadiana Humane Society at Sabakon 2015 in Las Vegas. The prize, was a lunch with actor Todd Haberkorn. Todd surprised us with a phone call to tell us how much money they raised. He also contacted us via Twitter to let us know. Todd Haberkorn’s friend Scott Barretto from FUNimation decided to join in the fun and donate to us as well! Congrats to Shane Windorf for placing the winning bid for lunch with Todd Haberkorn! Thank you to everyone who participated and donated! The money raised is being used to pay vet bills for the rescued animals of Acadiana Humane Society!

National Dog Day

National Dog Day

In honor of National Dog Day, if you adopt a dog today, or submit an application on any dog today, we will discount the dog adoption fee by $50.00. You can download our application by clicking the “Download prescreening application” on the side of this page. Submitting your application by attaching it to an email is the fastest way to get it to us. If you have been considering adopting a dog, now is the time to submit your application. If you aren’t quite ready to finalize the adoption, then as long as we receive your application today, we will still apply the special reduced fee when you do adopt.

raining cats and dogs

Acadiana Humane Society is currently above capacity on cats, dogs, and rabbits. Because of this we are currently on an intake freeze for cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, and rabbits. This means we can not take in any new rescue cats, dogs, or rabbits. The only cats, dogs, or rabbits that we will be accepting are returned pets, that is, those that were adopted from us, provided the former foster home is still volunteering with our rescue. If they are no longer fostering, then we will help you find another home or rescue for the cat, dog, or rabbit that you wish to return. We are only accepting ferrets, guinea pigs, and other small exotic caged pets as new intakes at this time due to space and financial issues.

During the months of July & August, we would really like to encourage adoption. If you choose to adopt a cat, dog, or rabbit from Acadiana Humane Society during the months of July & August, we will happily offer to allow you to adopt a second cat, dog, or rabbit from the same foster home, for only $25 more! Just be sure to mention that you saw this offer on our website when submitting your application to adopt.

Acadiana Humane Society is currently low on funds for vet bills, as well as for pet food and supplies. If you would like to donate, please make checks and money orders out to Acadiana Humane Society and send to our mailing address at P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, LA 70584-0536. Gift cards and small packages can also be sent to this address. There is a Paypal button on the side of this webpage if you would like to donate online. We can not do what we do without the support of donors and volunteers. Thank you to those who donate regularly, as well as those who donate what you can, when you can. Thank you also for our volunteers who give of your valuable time to help care for the animals and work events. You are why we are able to continue saving lives and caring for the animals already in our system. Thank you!
