At this time of great concern for us all, I sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are, and continue to be, in good health. Acadiana Humane Society is following the government and healthcare guidelines to keep our volunteers, and others safe. During this global coronavirus pandemic, the financial implications of the virus and the potentially damaging impact on the vitality of our all volunteer animal rescue gives us tremendous concern. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have canceled all of our spring fundraising and adoption events. This means that donations are much lower then usual for this time of year. Yet the need for our mission is even greater then before. Donors can support us through many different options.

We’re enormously proud of our role in Louisiana, and the incredibly positive impact Acadiana Humane Society has had on the lives of so many in and around our community. Please know that not one penny of your donation goes to pay anyone, as we are operated solely by volunteers. We hope you are in the position to help us continue the life-changing work that we’ve provided in the Acadiana area for over 20 years. Giving really does matter.

Here is a quick summary of the missons that our 100% volunteer group provides. Our primary mission has always been “Saving One Life At A Time.” Saving, rehabilitating and providing medical care, to the helpless animals in need, and then finding them a wonderful forever home, has always been our first goal. Over the years, we have expanded our missions to include outreaches to the humans that we’ve encountered as well, by recognizing the needs, then providing those free services as much as donations to our organization allow us to do so. While we do ask for an adoption fee when choosing one of our rescue animals as a member of your family, we do reduce and waive these adoption fees when sponsorships and donations allow us to. However, there are no fees whatsoever for everything else that we offer to those in need. Since 2007 we have been slowly adding new, free services as we can. These include, but are not limited to the following: Assistance with spaying/neutering your cat, dog, or rabbit if you meet certain low income requirements. Free dog, cat, and other pet food and litter to those in financial distress to allow them to continue to keep their pets. Many of the recipients of Acadiana Humane Society’s Pet Food Bank are shut ins with no transportation who have no other way to get these pet supplies. We also provide food and supplies to the humans that are in need as well. If they can’t feed their pets, then they also need help feeding themselves. While we can’t help everyone, we do help those that we can as donations from local businesses and individuals allow us to. Our mission is only possible by the generosity of those in our community who can afford to help us help others. Will you consider becoming a part of our rescue team with your donation? Please help us help the animals and the humans that love them. We can’t do what we do in St. Landry Parish, Lafayette, and surrounding areas of Acadiana without your support. We’re in this together. Thank you!
