Acadiana Humane Society‘s office will be closed Friday, December 11th through Tuesday, December 15th. There won’t be anyone available to take calls during this time at the office or fax numbers. Email will be checked once a day, and forwarded to other volunteers to handle, so please email in any questions or applications. We have received quite a few applications on Louie and on some of the kittens. They are not quite ready yet, as we are dealing with some health issues, so decisions have not yet been made on which homes are the best match for them. One of our volunteers will be calling everyone to let them know either way if they were chosen or not once we are ready. We appreciate your patience.
We will still be having two adoption events this weekend, as another volunteer will be hosting these events. You can meet adoptable cats and dogs at Petco North on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Kristy will be at Petsmart as well on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 PM.

*Also, please be aware that while our office may be closed during some days, we will reply to emails and process applications as we can. We are a foster based rescue, so there is no public facility to visit. Our animals can be viewed online on our Facebook page and our Petfinder page. If you are interested in meeting one or more of our pets, please download and fill out our prescreening application and submit it to us via email or fax. Email is actually faster as we are not always in the office to check the fax machine, and sometimes the fax fails. Once an application is processed, we can make an appointment to meet, or we will arrange to bring the selected pet to our next adoption event. Our animal rescue is 100% volunteer and all of our volunteers have families and jobs outside of the rescue, so it may take a little time to hear back from us. While we try to respond to everything within one business day, we get hundreds of emails and messages daily, and sometimes it is just not possible to reply to every one right away. Email is usually the fastest way to get a response, since replies can be made late at night if need be. We believe it is important to allow our volunteers some free time to spend with their families.
