Acadiana Humane Society will be participating in the Krewe des Chiens 11th Annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade on Saturday, February 14, 2009. The parade will start rolling in downtown Lafayette at 2PM. The Krewe des Chiens is a large fundraiser for all local animal rescues. Please come out and support Acadiana Humane Society and other area animal rescues!
We are currently collecting donations of Mardi Gras beads and other non-edible throws that our volunteers can throw out to the parade goers. Linda at Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery has been kind enough to be a drop off point for donations to our animal rescue. If you have any Mardi Gras beads, stuffed animals, or other non-edible throws to donate, please stop by Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery and look for our donation box there. If you would like a tax donation receipt, please leave either your buisness card, or your information with Linda, and we will mail one out to you.
You may also drop off donations of cat & dog food, as well as pet food for small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, cockatiels, etc.), litter boxes, litter scoops, cat litter, dog & cat toys, dog & cat treats, hand held brooms and dustpans, Advantage, Frontline, pet carriers, wire crates, small animal bedding, and other pet supplies that you think we can use for our foster animals. To see a specific list of soome of our needed items, please check out our needs page on our website.
We are also looking for volunteers who would like to walk in the parade with us. We need two adults to carry our banner, four adults to help with security, a few adults to walk adoptable dogs, and adults and supervised children to pull wagons and throw beads. Please contact Sue via email if you can help with the parade.
