It is that time of year again. We are now selling raffle tickets for our Annual Acadiana Humane Society Raffle Fundraiser. We are still seeking donations of new items, gift certificates, gift baskets, autographed celebrity items (photos, books, swag, etc.), and anything else of value to help us raise much needed funds for our non-profit no-kill animal rescue. All donations are tax deductible. All money raised goes to the rescue animals needs for pet food, vetting, litter and animal supplies, and shelter expenses. There are no paid employees at Acadiana Humane Society, only volunteers. So every penny raised goes to the animal rescue.

We will provide free advertising on our website and in our newsletter for all businesses who donate for our raffle. Please email info@acadianahumane.org or suerabeaux@gmail.com for more information about how you can help. If you are local, you can call or fax us at 337-668-4484 to arrange pick up of any donated items. If you are out of state and would like to mail us a donated item for our raffle, the mailing address is:

Acadiana Humane Society
P.O. Drawer C
Sunset, Louisiana 70584-0536

If your item needs to be sent via UPS, FedEx, or other non-postal carrier, please email us for our physical address.

If you can’t donate items for our raffle, but would like to help, please check out our website for other ways you can help.

We are also in need of volunteers to help with our fundraisers, cleaning cat cages at Petsmart, and fostering dogs, cats, and small animals. If you would like to become a volunteer, please contact Sue at suerabeaux@gmail.com. Thank you!

Adoptions and donations to Acadiana Humane Society have been down for the past few months, getting gradually worse. This month, Acadiana Humane Society does not even have enough to pay all of the vet and pet food bills. If you, or someone you know can help, please spread the word. There are many ways to help.

1. Promote adoption. http://www.acadianahumane.org/adopt.html

2. Promote and/or make donations: http://www.acadianahumane.org/donate.html

Tax deductible donations can be made several different ways:

1. PayPal to info@acadianahumane.org
There is a PayPal button on the side column of this blog.

2. Checks/money orders made out to Acadiana Humane Society and sent to:
Acadiana Humane Society
P.O. Drawer C
Sunset, LA 70584-0536

3. Order Tupperware for yourself, or for a wedding or birthday gift. 100% of the profits goes to Acadiana Humane Society!
Locals can also host a cash and carry Tupperware party and all proceeds will go to the animals. Contact ahspets@gmail.com if you would like to host one.

4. Donate items for our Annual Yard Sale. Date of yard sale to be announced.
Items needed: household items, kitchenware, toys, books, furniture, anything in good, clean condition. Donations are being collected at Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette, Louisiana on Tuesdays through Fridays. Please specify that they are for the animal rescue yard sale.

5. Donate pet food and supplies. Items can be left at Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery, or brought to us at Petco on Louisiana Ave. in Lafayette, LA on Saturdays between noon and 4PM.
See this webpage for list of items we use regularly: http://www.mycatranch.com/needs.html

6. Hold your own fundraiser for Acadiana Humane Society.
You can create and/or host your own fundraiser for us. It can be anything from a garage sale, bake sale, lemonade stand sales, car washes, raffles, ebay auctions – the only limit is your imagination. Let us know what you plan, and we will help spread the word as much as we can!

7. Raise money for our animal rescue just by searching the Internet with http://www.GoodSearch.com, or shopping online with http://www.GoodShop.com choosing Acadiana Humane Society in Sunset, LA as the charity you support. Each search raises a penny for us. You would be surprised how quickly those pennies add up!

8. Donate Lowes & Home Depot cards to be used for building supplies for our hurricane safe shelter. Donate building supplies for finishing construction of our shelter. See our website for more information: http://acadianahumane.org/catblogger/how-you-can-help/hurricane-shelter/

9. Donate items we can sell on eBay to raise money for the animals. Examples: autographed celebrity items, valuables, other items that would do well on eBay.

Yes, Festivale de Cochon is French for Festival of the Pig. No, we are not adopting out pigs at the Festivale de Cochon. But, we do have a couple of guinea pigs that are available for adoption. πŸ˜‰

Covenant United Methodist Church invited us to attend their Youth fundraiser and Festivale de Cochon by bringing adoptable pets. The church is located at 300 East Martial Avenue in Lafayette, Louisiana. The festival will be held on Sunday, May 31st from 11:00AM until 3:00PM. They will be selling Brisket & Pork BBQ Dinners to benefit the Youth Group for $6.00 each. They will also have carnival games for both adults and kids. As well as snow cones and popcorn, huge fun jumps and more activities! There is even a “kiss the pig” contest!

Acadiana Humane Society Pet Adoptions will include kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, birds, guinea pigs, and a ferret! Please come by, have some fun, get some food, and meet some of our adoptable pets!
