“Victor”

Please vote for Victor, an Acadiana Humane Society recently adopted rescue cat, in the Spay Day 2010 Pet Photo Contest. This picture was taken by Victor’s foster family just a few weeks before he went to his forever home. Victor was adopted on February 20, 2010. Every dollar raised by voting for Victor goes to Acadiana Humane Society’s Spay/Neuter Fund!

Although our hurricane safe animal shelter is not fully constructed yet, we have been using it to house kittens in cage systems. We have also been able to crate dogs on cold and/or wet nights, so they don’t have to sleep in their dog houses in the outdoor kennels. We still need to add interior walls, plumbing, fixtures, etc. However, as long as the animals do not run loose, we can keep them safe inside the incomplete shelter as needed. We have an air conditioner/heater window unit that used to be sufficient for keeping the inside of the animal shelter warm. However, the heater has died and no longer works. We have priced a new unit that is the right size for our shelter. We urgently need $700.00 to purchase this ac/heater unit. Items needed: household items, kitchenware, toys, books, furniture, anything in good, clean condition. Donations are being collected at Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette, Louisiana on Tuesdays through Fridays. Please specify that they are for the animal rescue yard sale.

5. Donate pet food and supplies. Items can be left at Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery, or brought to us at Petco on Louisiana Ave. in Lafayette, LA on Saturdays between noon and 4PM.

6. Hold your own fundraiser for Acadiana Humane Society.
You can create and/or host your own fundraiser for us. It can be anything from a garage sale, bake sale, lemonade stand sales, car washes, raffles, ebay auctions – the only limit is your imagination. Let us know what you plan, and we will help spread the word as much as we can!

7. Raise money for our animal rescue just by searching the Internet with http://www.GoodSearch.com, or shopping online with http://www.GoodShop.com choosing Acadiana Humane Society in Sunset, LA as the charity you support. Each search raises a penny for us. You would be surprised how quickly those pennies add up!
