5. Donate pet food and supplies. Items can be left at Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery, or brought to us at Petco on Louisiana Ave. in Lafayette, LA on Saturdays between noon and 4PM.

6. Hold your own fundraiser for Acadiana Humane Society.
You can create and/or host your own fundraiser for us. It can be anything from a garage sale, bake sale, lemonade stand sales, car washes, raffles, ebay auctions – the only limit is your imagination. Let us know what you plan, and we will help spread the word as much as we can!

7. Raise money for our animal rescue just by searching the Internet with http://www.GoodSearch.com, or shopping online with http://www.GoodShop.com choosing Acadiana Humane Society in Sunset, LA as the charity you support. Each search raises a penny for us. You would be surprised how quickly those pennies add up!

I’m a huge fan of the remade TV series “Battlestar Galactica”, and I was sooo delighted to find this PETA ad featuring the beautifal Tricia Helfer, I just had to share it here! For those of you who are not familar with BSG, Tricia plays one of the Cyclon characters, known as ”Six” (and her many incarnations – Caprica, Natalie, and Gina) on Battlestar Galactica.

Construction of our hurricane safe cat shelter is moving along nicely. Thanks to a generous donor, the foundation and the steel building kit are completely paid for. We are almost finished with the outside of the cat shelter. There is just some minor trim work left to do before we will have to raise more funds before being able to do anything else.

Our next step is to obtain donations of building supplies for the windows and the interior walls and everything needed to complete construction inside our cat shelter. We have a list of needed supplies, which include, but are not limited to the following:

190 – 2 x 4 x 8′s
50 – 2 x 4 x 12‘s
90 sheets of 4 x 8 sheet rock
Screws; Nail gun nails
Sheet rock mud, and Sheet rock tape
Tile or epoxy paint for 720 sq. ft.
3 interior doors and door frames
1 toilet, wall flush mount
4 windows
1 small sink
4 ceiling fans
3 or 4 a/c and heat window units; or 1 Central 2 Ton Unit
Refrigerator
16 circuit fuse box, wire, outlets, lights, switches, etc.
Metal cabinets that lock for supplies
Sturdy Industrial strength storage shelves for pet food storage
Washable wall panels
Floor sealant; Ceramic tiles
Phone lines, phone jacks, phone with 2 lines
Exterior door for back of building
Fence, posts, gates, etc. for fencing in dog yards
Concrete Stepping Stones to make sidewalk

This is a photo slide show of the cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies on adoption row at the Roicy Duhon Animal Control facility in Lafayette, Louisiana. These sweet and precious animals have just a short time before their chance at life is over. We must do what we can to not forget those in the pound. Acadiana Humane Society does what we can, when we can. But, we are a small rescue group with limited space and resources. Many of our currently available cats and dogs we rescued from Roicy Duhon Animal Control.

The main purpose for this video is to help make others aware of the plight of the animals at the Lafayette Animal Control. The pet overpopulation in Lafayette, LA is astounding. We would not have this problem if more people would only spay and neuter their pets! Please help us spread the word to spay, neuter, and save the animals! Thank you! =^..^=
